What to expect

We understand that you’ll have lots of questions and concerns at your first visit. If you need advanced therapies, we will explain the transplant evaluation process in detail so you’ll have a better understanding of what to expect.

Our dedicated team of specialists work collectively with your physician, pharmacist and other providers to give you the best quality of care delivered as efficiently as possible. Together, we provide education, conduct a thorough evaluation of your health, and create a detailed care plan to make the right treatment available to you.

Why you should choose Nebraska Medicine

Proven outcomes

When undergoing a heart transplant, survival is the most important outcome for you and your loved ones. Our transplant team has a proven success in taking the sickest patients through the transplantation process, with high-quality outcomes including higher one-year survival rates compared to other transplant programs. Learn more about our program's ratings through the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients.

Comprehensive care options

Nebraska Medicine is the only center in the region to offer all therapy options for management of advanced heart failure. Our experience and knowledge in management of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) as well as heart transplantation allows patients to hear about all possible options to allow them to make the choice that’s right for them.

Continuum of care

While heart transplantation is often the ultimate goal, some patients may not be candidates for transplant right away. We use ventricular assist devices to serve as a bridge to transplant.
