A cancer diagnosis is something a person never wants to receive.
For parents though, so often they would rather personally go through a diagnosis than ever hear the word cancer in regard to their child's health.
Getting the news that your child's entire world may at least temporarily be changed and filled with tests and medicine and procedures is absolutely terrifying, and something we feel no family or caregiver should have to figure out by herself or himself.
Everyone from our child life specialists to our doctors will help you know that your child is in the very best hands.
Nebraska Medicine in partnership with Children's Hospital & Medical Center share their strengths to treat pediatric, adolescent and young adult patients diagnosed with the most complicated cancer cases. Our partnership provides families access to the latest clinical cancer research and treatments.
Conditions include:
- Leukemia
- Lymphomas
- Other Hematologic Cancers
- Pediatric Solid Tumors - Neuroblastoma or Select Brain Tumors
- Immune Deficiencies - SCID
- Metabolic Diseases
- Non-Malignant Hematologic Disorders - Sickle Cell Anemia
Many of these pediatric patients can be cured with conventional chemotherapy. For the small number who are not, we offer blood and marrow transplantation as well.
We are proud to be a member of the Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC). The Mission of PBMTC is to support research and education to improve the availability, safety, and efficacy of hematopoietic cell transplantation and other cellular therapeutics for children and adolescents.
