What Your Comprehensive Medical and Nutritional Assessment Includes

A team from a wide variety of specialties with vast experience in intestinal failure and intestinal rehabilitation evaluate you. Following evaluation an individualized plan of care is developed and shared with you and any other doctors involved with your care. Every effort is made to reduce or eliminate the need for parenteral or enteral nutrition through medical, surgical and nutritional intervention.

Testing will include but is not limited to:

  • Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Doppler Venous Study
  • Small Bowel Series
  • Barium Enema
  • DEXA Scan or Bone Age Study
  • Upper and Lower Endoscopy
  • Blood Tests for Comprehensive Nutritional Assessment

You will be evaluated by an Intestinal Failure Team, meaning the expertise of the group as a whole is filtered into your diagnosis and care plan, not just one doctor's opinion. 

The Intestinal Failure care team includes a:

  • Surgeon
  • Gastroenterologist
  • Clinical Coordinator
  • Dietitian
  • Social Worker
  • Financial Counselor
  • Pharmacist
  • With additional consultations as necessary with an:
    • Endocrinologist
    • Cardiologist
    • Pulmonologist
    • Nephrologist
    • Feeding Therapist
