This new, comprehensive clinic cares for people who have an increased risk for cancer due to family history, medical factors or lifestyle. It’s the first of its kind in Nebraska. The clinic offers personalized risk assessments, offers strategies to reduce your risk and recommendations for proactive screening. 

What to expect at your first visit

Your medical and family history with be reviewed with a health care provider who has special training in family-based cancer risk. You will also have the opportunity to meet with a genetics counselor if it’s applicable to your personal situation. 

Together, the two experts will conduct an evaluation to determine if you are at increased risk for cancer, and if so, what type of cancer. Ultimately, you will leave with a personalized plan meant to protect you through careful, systematic monitoring, periodic screenings and in some cases cancer prevention medicines or procedures.
