The Nebraska Medicine Psychology Department in Omaha, Nebraska invites applicants for its postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology, with a start date as early as July 2020 and no later than Sept. 1, 2020.
The fellowship position provides robust assessment and intervention experience within a tertiary care medical setting, with additional opportunities for clinical research, psychology intern supervision, and medical resident teaching, based on the interests and experience of the fellow. Training will incorporate screening, assessment, psychotherapy, and interdisciplinary collaboration for patients with a full range of psychiatric disorders, including those coping with acute and chronic medical illnesses, in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings. Fellows are accorded the privilege of tailoring their fellowship experience by selecting 2-3 primary rotations: chronic pain management, solid organ transplant, bariatric surgery, and psycho-oncology. However, opportunities for minor rotations in cystic fibrosis, diabetes, functional disorders (e.g., non-epileptic seizures), and behavioral health integration in primary care are available, as well.

As a core consultative service at Nebraska Medicine, the Psychology Department is a free-standing department in the Behavioral Health Clinical Program division, comprised of clinical psychologists who have varied backgrounds and specialized clinical expertise. Additionally, there are two clinical psychologists in the co-located Chronic Pain Management Program as well as two clinical psychologists working in integrated primary care. Our psychologists, interns, and fellow are fully integrated within the health care setting, and they work closely with hospital and community physicians, allied health professionals, and interdisciplinary teams in the provision of comprehensive assessment and collaborative care. Services include inpatient and outpatient evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and older adults across the full spectrum of psychiatric illness, including behavioral, emotional, physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. In addition, Nebraska Medicine psychologists address the mind-body aspects of health issues including managing pain, coping with chronic illnesses, weight management, adherence to treatment regimens, and behavioral aspects of organ transplantation.

Applicants must already have, or will be granted, a PhD/ PsyD from an APA/CPA-Accredited doctoral program and will have completed an APA/CPA-accredited internship by the start of the fellowship. All degree requirements must be met by the first day of fellowship. Additionally, applicants must be eligible to be credentialed as a provisionally-licensed psychologist within the state of Nebraska.
