Clinical Psychology

Clinical health psychology services address the mind-body aspects of many health issues including pain management, coping with chronic illnesses, weight management, adherence to treatment regimens and organ transplantation. Health psychologists use a number of approaches to enhance health and healing, including cognitive-behavioral methods, guided imagery, and relaxation strategies.

Our psychologists also focus on improving the quality of life for patients with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar affective disorder, adjustment disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and other issues related to mental health. Evaluations and therapy are available for children, teens, and adults of all ages.

Pre-surgical Psychological Evaluations

Research shows that a patient's psychological and social health can significantly affect healing after surgery. Psychologists meet with patients before surgery to help them as well as their doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers identify and address any behavioral health concerns that may impact recovery. If there are concerns about a patient’s preparedness for surgery, short-term therapy may be provided to address any psychological distress and to teach coping skills to enhance the probability of a successful surgical outcome.
