Violence statistics

There are up to 2 million violent injuries that require medical interventions in the United States every year. Of those, nearly 50,000 victims die from their injuries.

Homicide is the leading cause of death for young men ages 15 to 24, and the second leading cause of death for those 10 to 24 years old nationwide.

Omaha recorded 23 homicides in 2019, which is a significant decrease over the past decade. However, there were still more than 100 nonfatal shooting victims who survived their injuries but are left with the physical, mental, and emotional trauma that violence leaves behind.
