Nebraska Medicine is ranked among the nation’s best. Each year, U.S. News and World Report surveys the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals to come up with the year’s list of Best Hospitals. Just 3 percent of the hospitals analyzed for Best Hospitals earn national ranking in even one specialty. Nebraska Medicine has been recognized as the top-rated hospital in Nebraska for nine consecutive years. Many of our specialty areas have also been individually recognized by U.S News and World Report.
National Consumer Choice Award
For thirteen consecutive years Nebraska Medicine has been named the National Consumer Choice Award winner as a result of a large consumer study conducted by The National Research Corporation (NRC). The goal of the survey is to determine the best quality health care service in the region.

Becker’s Hospital Review has named Nebraska Medical Center as one of the 100 Best Hospitals in America for seven consecutive years.
Magnet Designation
Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet designation is given to organizations that demonstrate successful nursing practices and strategies. In order to meet Magnet criteria, we demonstrate quality patient care, nursing excellence and the implementation of best practices.
Nebraska's Safest Companies Award
The National Safety Council, Nebraska (NSCN) awarded Nebraska Medicine with its “Nebraska’s Safest Companies” award. NSCN is a private, nonprofit organization that partners with businesses, schools, law enforcement, firefighters, hospitals and Nebraska communities to provide education and training focused on keeping Nebraskans safe. The award signifies our exemplary safety record, which is better than the national average when compared to the rest of our industry and recognizes comprehensive safety programs that our organization has implemented.
Health Equality Index Top Performer
Nebraska Medicine has been recognized as a top performer by the Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans. The Human Right Campaign's Health Equality Index (HEI) assesses participants on four criteria: non-discrimination and staff training, patient services and support, employee benefits and policies, and patient and community engagement.
