The Bullous Disease Clinic specializes in autoimmune diseases of the skin. The clinic, offered twice a month, is co-directed by Corey Georgesen, MD, and Erin Barrett, MD. This clinic provides cutting-edge clinical trials and allows patients to receive the most up-to-date treatment for bullous diseases.
Dr. Georgesen is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who founded the Bullous Clinic at Nebraska Medicine in 2021.
Dr. Barrett is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in autoimmune diseases. She is the director of UNMC Clinical Trials. Dr. Barrett was previously the director of the Bullous Disease Clinic at Brigham and Women's Hospital-Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts where she treated hundreds of blistering disease patients annually.

- Porphyria cutanea tarda
- Linear IgA disease

In addition to working with oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty, we partner with experts in ophthalmology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, or hematology, as appropriate, to provide comprehensive care for complex conditions.
With Dr. Georgesen's expertise in dermatopathology, advanced diagnostic techniques are available such as direct immunofluorescence (DIF), indirect immunofluorescence (IIF), salt split skin evaluation, ELISA, immuneblotting, FISH, and electron microscopy. Both Dr. Georgesen and Dr. Barrett are highly experienced in using immune-modulating medications and IV infusions. Dr. Barrett has been recognized for her excellence in patient care and received the Brigham Way recognition and BWH Certificate of Excellence for Patient Satisfaction. She is a past recipient of the International Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation Research Grant and 2022-2024 Blavatnik Therapeutics Challenge Awards (BTCA) for investigation in targeted therapeutic option for pemphigus.
