National Cancer Survivor’s Day, which is routinely observed on the first Sunday in June, is a celebration for those who have survived cancer, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families and an outreach to the community.  Instead of celebrating just one day, Nebraska Medicine hosted its inaugural Cancer Survivorship Week. The week started off with National Cancer Survivor’s Day on June 2 and offered complimentary ice cream sundaes, “Hope Grows Here” flower seed packets and tours of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, then continued to offer fun activities throughout the week. Other activities offered to cancer survivors throughout the week included free yoga classes, a healthy cooking demo and a night out with the Omaha Storm Chasers.
